In summer months, we have hosted a 5k Walk & Concert series.  

Snowshoeing is available at Fullersburg Woods (3609 Spring Rd, Oak Brook) during the winter season. Sign up box is located at the Visitor's Center. Snowshoes are available to rent there, or bring your own!  Call (630) 850-8110 for Snow Shoe availability and snow conditions.

• What is Volksporting? 

Volkssporting is participation in non-competitive events (walks, cycling events, swims) hosted by local, nonprofit clubs. Walks are generally 10k (6.2miles) in length, with a shorter (5k or 6k) route available.

• Where can I find a complete list of all current year events? 

The AVA website lists all available events (walks, bike events, swims) on their site. Click here to visit the AVA Events page to search for events by state or type. 

• Why must I pay to participate in an event?  

Clubs provide the public service of planning and hosting an event to encourage walking for fun and fitness. The $4 event fee is used to defray the cost of printing walk instructions/maps, liability insurance, etc. Additionally, the fee allows you to track events in special IVV Record Books.  When specific milestones (such as 10 events, 30 events, 500 kilometers, etc.) are achieved, you can send the book to the American Volkssport Association to receive a patch, hatpin and certificate. A New Walker’s Packet, containing a Distance Record Book, Event Book and coupon for a free walk is available for $5 at most events.
